Ottawa Symphony Orchestra’s, “Symphony IN the Schools”
2018-19 School Program
Ottawa Symphony Orchestra’s “Symphony IN the Schools” is a bilingual school program targeted to kids in grades 6, 7, 8 who have limited access to cultural education and programming. The Ottawa Symphony Orchestra aims to bring our musicians and music into our community and make the experience of music a positive and enjoyable one, exposing music as a viable avenue—be it professionally or for pure enjoyment—for kids who might not otherwise be exposed to orchestral sound. Our musicians will demonstrate their skills, share their passion, and share the context of instruments and music with kids, and will engage with them on a personal level, not once, but on a repeated basis over the course of the fall, winter and spring of 2018 and 2019.
Additionally, a designated number of concert tickets will be provided to participating schools so that each student will be afforded the opportunity to attend at least once Ottawa Symphony concert at either the Shenkman Arts Centre, or Dominion-Chalmers United Church.
